This 8 hour introductory course, designed with the beginner in mind, lays a solid foundation for interpreting cardiac rhythms.

Using both didactic lecture and individual attention by the instructor, students have the opportunity to learn the basic anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of cardiac tissue.

Course topics include:

  • Physiology of cardiac tissue and action potentials
  • Sinus Rhythms: Normal, Bradycardia and Tachycardias
  • Atrial Arythmias: SVT, Atrial fibrillation and Atrial Flutter
  • Ventricular rhythms: Ventricular Fibrillation, Ventricular Tachycardia, Junctional Rhythms, PVC's
  • Heart Blocks:
    • First Degree
    • Second Degree Type 1, Mobitz 1, Wenkebach
    • Second Degree Type 2, Mobitz 2
    • Third Degree Heart Block, Complete Heart Block
  • Basics of 12 Lead ECG's
    • ST Elevation, ST Depression, T Wave Inversion
  • Review of the current 2020 ACLS Algorithms
  • Review of basic ACLS Pharmacology
  • Review of Electrolyte abnormalities with associated changes  in the cardiac rhythm tracing
